Back From Pasture - 2021+ Ford Bronco 2.7L Baffled Oil Catch Can R&D, Part 2 - PCV-Side Concept and Design

The Bronco is back, which is basically old news at this point. However, as the hum of excitement subsides for this legend's return, the buzz is now shifting to the endless possibilities to customize and accessorize this off-roading machine. Naturally, Ford anticipated the owner's needs to personalize their Broncos, launching the line with a plethora of accessories to appear more adventurous and act the part. However, missing from the catalog was a means of adding a layer of protection against the onslaught of blow-by on the intake tract. Not to worry, though, since we here at Mishimoto wanted to ensure that you had options in that department.

Some of you might be asking what blow-by is and what it has to do with your intake system, while keen Bronco enthusiasts are also questioning the need for a catch can system on 2.7L EcoBoost's dual-injection system. Well, we're glad you asked! So, make sure you

Bring a Jacket: Intercooler R&D, Part 1: The Stock System

I've been labeled a Nissan guy for a long time now. My 1995 Nissan 240SX has served me well during the six years I've owned it, sticking with me through the second half of college, nine states on the east coast and more drift events than I can honestly count. Being a Nissan guy (specifically a 240 guy) has really been the one thing I could easily identify with, other than usually being able to see over crowds and get the "Did you play college ball?" question. While I'm familiar with what is known as the S-Chassis, I'm a car guy through and through, and I can appreciate the builds and the individual styles that come from all sorts of different personalities and backgrounds. This is exactly why when I saw this new 2016 Honda Civic 1.5L Turbo Hatchback pull into our parking lot last week, I got excited.

  3. Youth Elevated - Snorkel R&D, Part 1: Introduction

Youth Elevated - Snorkel R&D, Part 1: Introduction

When we were 16, our cars were our tickets to freedom and endless possibilities. For many of us, those early days of driving were the basis for a lifetime of automotive passion. It didn't matter if we were driving our dream car or our grandmother's 1991 Buick Regal, as long as we were behind the wheel with our friends in the back.

Somewhere along the road from 16 to adulthood, we lost that sense of freedom. Room for friends has been replaced by space for the kids and their bikes. Gas mileage now supersedes a killer sound system in the hierarchy of features. "How comfortable will this be on my 45-minute stop-and-go commute," has taken the place of "Will my crush think I'm cool in this?"

But growing up doesn't have to be all car seats and MPGs. Many vehicles, like the 2018+ Jeep Wrangler

Mishimoto is Dyno-mite - Our Dynojet and Dynapack Dynos

There's nothing quite like hearing the roar of an engine mixed with the whir of rollers spinning under your wheels, all while you watch the line on the graph climb.  Running a powerful car on a dynamometer (dyno) is the epitome of instant gratification for gear-heads.  Here at Mishimoto, we use our dynos on a daily basis.  From all-wheel-drive (AWD) hatchbacks, like the Ford Focus RS, to the high-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Camaro SS,  and even trucks like the Nissan Titan XD. Almost every vehicle we bring in finds itself strapped (or bolted) down to a dyno at one point or another.

2016 Camaro SS Video Review Series

On to the intake. We want to help free up some of that airflow, as these cars have been restrictive in the past. However, Chevy does have an interesting stock intake design for this 6th-generation Camaro. Let's dive into it.

  8. Gas and Grease - The 2017 Philly Cheesesteak Run

Gas and Grease - The 2017 Philly Cheesesteak Run

The section of I95 between Baltimore and Philadelphia might seem like drab and uninspired stretch of pavement for the millions of commuters and travelers getting from point A to point B. However, it  serves as the main artery for bringing together people every year in a celebrated event to scarf down the savory staple of Philadelphia's culinary prowess, the cheesesteak. It's not just any group of people, but rather an extensive faction of gear-heads piloting the best vehicles that Germany, England, Japan, and America have to offer to satisfy their craving for speed and the fine mixture of cheese wiz and steak. What caused this yearly pilgrimage to South Philly's very own Tony Luke's cheesesteak stand? Simply one man who found Bimmers and cheesesteaks belonged together, and clearly others shared his appreciation for the combo before finally the event took its current form.

    A Car for Drivers

There are 7 billion people on Earth driving over 1 billion cars. Some of those cars were made for people who spend their Saturdays shopping for houseplants and whose idea of speed is doing 45mph in a 40mph zone. Some of them were made for the passengers of the world, whose perfect car is a silent butler. Then there are the cars made for the select few. For those with fuel in their veins and tire smoke in their lungs. For drivers.

The fifth-generation Chevy Camaro SS is certainly a driver's car. With a 6.2L V8 capable of 426 horsepower, independent rear suspension, and launch control, the Camaro is not your average run-around. It's raced in touring car championships, NASCAR, and even Formula Drift (piloted by none other than Mishimoto-sponsored driver Ryan Tuerck). The SS's bigger brother, the ZL1, clocked a 7-minute, 41-second Nürburgring lap, keeping pace with Lamborghini, Porsche, and Mercedes. But

    Setting the Scene"

The early summer sun hangs low and cool against the rolling American meadows, lazily beginning to cast its gaze over another serene, newborn morning. Delicate but unwavering, it brings the landscape to life, painting the valley in amber shades so warm they can practically be felt. The depth and flowing continuity in these endless fields, draped in their clementine pallet, remains mostly unbroken but for a neat, dark ribbon of tarmac, slicing back and forth as if laid down by the hawk gliding soundlessly above.

Like an incoming storm, an imposing, thunderous tone bellows distantly above the hills, cutting through the picturesque still-life and growing louder as it echoes, following the zig-zagging vein of asphalt, ever-aggressively surging forward and inhaling the scene's serenity only to expel it rearward in an affront to all things understated. Contrasting though it may seem, the proprietor
