We’re entering the fourteenth year of production for Ford’s 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, and in that time the Coyote has made a name for itself. It’s a powerful, throaty engine that’s been in the Mustang GT since the 2011 model year. Since its inception, the folks at Ford have managed to squeeze an extra 68 horsepower out of the Coyote with the new 2024 Mustang GT boasting 480 horsepower. Despite these gains, one issue the Coyote has had for years still persists—excessive blow-by.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." This colloquialism is a phrase we've all heard before. It translates to, "If it's still working, why put any effort into improving it?" But that doesn't sit well with us here at Mishimoto, especially when referring to keeping your engine running at peak efficiency. So with that in mind, it's time our tried-and-true compact catch can got a refresh, and we're stoked to show it off.

The CNC-machined components keep rolling in! Our last prototype has been constructed and is now ready for our final evaluation before beginning mass production of these units. This prototype is a raw aluminum version; our final version will feature a black anodized finish.
The first completed component is the base/can portion of the product. This is a CNC-machined piece with internal threading on the upper portion, a port on the bottom for a drain or valve, and knurling at the bottom for ease of removal.

Our team began sifting through forums and asking our contacts at local shops to see exactly what they wanted from a catch can. We also reviewed our current line of products, to see if we could develop a new
