    BAFFLED OIL CATCH CAN KIT, CCV SIDE, FITS TOYOTA GR SUPRA 3.0L 2020+

    It's a strange time in the automotive world when it's an insult to call a Toyota a BMW. Yet, it seems that is one of the only small clouds hanging over the otherwise flawless return of the legendary Supra. I would say that's a win. Sure, it's Z4 in a cooler outfit, but I can't remember the last time BMW wasn't considered to be one of the benchmarks for automotive engineering. Why not shine a light on the real matter at hand, something that actually makes a difference? The only real speck on the otherwise gleaming Supra moniker is the issue of blow-by.

    BMW was on the forefront of direct injection technology on its production vehicles like the N54 back in the early 2000s.

If you're a car or truck enthusiast, you know the feeling of accomplishment you get from the hard work of fixing or modifying your vehicle. Ford's latest addition to the Powerstroke lineage, the 6.7L, has been serving hard-working Americans since 2011. The 6.7L Powerstroke is one of the best engines ever fitted to Ford's Super Duty trucks, but it's not without its flaws.

    First impressions can be fleeting, especially in the automotive world. Once the buzz around the Stinger finally dies down and they start patrolling the commuter routes, owners might find themselves wondering what to do so their cushy Korean cruiser maintains the status quo it launched with not too long ago. Well, there's an easy answer. In our last post, we gave you a look at our plan for making the Stinger GT's first impression last, but we're back to show you just how well it works.

    First, let's take a look at how it will look under the hood. Since our last check-in on the project, not much has changed. Our kit is still nestled on the passenger-side strut tower for the best access to the Lambda's PCV system. The big difference here is our bracket received a fresh new coat of powder for a durable, yet OEM-style finish.

    Stranger Danger - Baffled Oil Catch Can R&D, Part 3: Finishing Touches

    The prototype has been on our loaner GT for the past few months, working as it should and catching a nice amount of blow-by. The previous updates, covered how we used innovative tech to design and create the bracket, and the planned routing for the lines. Significant progress has been made since then, as the designs have taken a cleaner physical form.

    Our sample production kit arrived at our R&D headquarters and it couldn't have fit any better. Everything was spot on and the installation was easy. You can see in the above image that we've cleaned up the catch can lines with properly routed hoses. The line material is rubber based, retaining a clean, OEM look.

    This is it. The leather seat grips your back as hard as your hands grip the wheel and the tires grip the road.     Greatest Hits – 2023+ Nissan Z Baffled Oil Catch Can R&D, Part 1 – Design Plans

    It’s almost 2023, and Nissan’s latest sports coupe carrying on the legendary Z lineage is finally here. Like every other enthusiast, we let out an exasperated “Finally…” hearing the news of dealer allocations. It’s been 13 years since we had a new Z car, and while the 370 certainly held the namesake in a strong standing, it was about time for a new era of Z before charging into the electrifying future. This Z might be the shining beacon of fresh sports car design, but Nissan’s latest offering is a compilation of their greatest hits. There are, of course, the classics, like the 300ZX taillights, signature silhouette, and hood cowl dating back to their Datsun days, but one of the main draws is the recent B-side that’s under the hood, a little ditty called the VR30DDTT. In this case, it’s a cover, but the Z made this tune its own with 400hp and, much to the superfan’s joy, a manual transmission option.     Back From Pasture - 2021+ Ford Bronco 2.7 Baffled Oil Catch Can R&D, Part 3 - PCV-Side Production Sample and Test Results

    Just like the wild stallion that the truck is named for, our donor Bronco stampeded back through our R&D facility after its preliminary 1000-mile test. While it was galavanting, though, our engineering team wrapped up the finishing touches on our kit to get it ready for the streets and trails.

    The makeover started with our bracket. When we last left off, our prototype bracket was sporting a more universal design, with mounting holes encircling the top of the bracket. However, since this is a direct fit application, Ye made sure to utilize only the can mounting holes needed for the 2.7L so the ports will always face in the correct direction.

    Back From Pasture - 2021+ Ford Bronco 2.7L Baffled OIl Catch Can R&D, Part 1 - Concept and Prototype

    Twenty-five years ago, Ford sent its Bronco moniker out to pasture. America's demand shifted from capable off-roaders to monstrous SUVs leaving Ford's purpose-built trailblazer in the dust. The Bronco has returned from the wild, however, and it's more capable than ever, sporting Ford's rock-solid 2.7L EcoBoost and a sprawling repertoire of Overlanding goodies. This feral machine might roll off the line with the equipment to tackle the wilderness, but that 2.7L Ecoboost is still carrying the same chronic illness that plagues every internal combustion engine - blow-by.

    Blow-by, for those unfamiliar, is the unfortunate side effect of the internal combustion process. In short, when the fuel and air mixture ignites, combustion gasses are generated and are mostly evacuated when the exhaust valves open and ushered out by the piston. However, some gasses make their way around the piston rings and pressurize the crankcase. Breathers are incorporated into modern engine design to manage this pressure,

That's sort of the same situation that's happening inside your L15B7. We know that there's blow-by. We know the consequences of leaving the intake valves unprotected.
