3D Modeling
After some serious 3D modeling work in Solidworks, our first prototype unit is complete. Let's check out a few of the renders!
As you can see, the rear of the radiator features a variety of complex pieces. The quick-disconnect fittings have been replicated and will be CNC-machined. All stock mounting points have been included in our design so that this radiator drops into place just like the stock unit.
Take a look at the front side of the radiator.
Although you can't see much of the core in these shots, we did spend a great deal of time designing this component as well. A radiator is only as efficient as the core, and the stock unit is relatively dense. We took great care to select an appropriate fin height, style, and pitch. By producing a thicker core with higher-density external fins, we can ensure that our heat exchanger will outperform the stock unit. Although our current calculations confirm this, final real-world testing will provide full validation of our success.
We will also be stamping our logo into the end tank as shown in the shots above. This is a more subtle form of branding compared to the large logo on the core that we've used with past projects.
Here is a look from the sides and top of this radiator!
Coming Next
Now that we have our prototype modeled we can work up a functional unit for test fitting and efficiency testing. We will update everyone once our prototype is complete!
