Product Description
6.4L Powerstroke radiators have different mounting designs than their predecessors, with two side mounting pegs which attach the radiator to the upper support. On the factory Ford 6.4L radiator, solid side mounting pegs transfer force from the truck directly to the radiator, causing failures. The engineers at Mishimoto designed rubber mounting pegs, specifically for this truck, to reduce the flex force aimed at the 6.4L radiator end tanks. This aluminium 6.4L Powerstroke radiator retains factory fitment for an easy installation process and includes a magnetic drain plug to catch any debris in your cooling system. Pair this 6.4L radiator with the Mishimoto 6.4L Powerstroke Silicone Coolant Hose Kit for the most durable cooling solution around. As the 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke enters its second decade of service, wear and tear is certainly a concern for many. Corrosion, heat, and a flexible front end that's notorious for cracking radiators means the cooling system is often the first to require an overhaul on any 6.4L.
When the time comes for a new radiator, many 6.4L owners simply replace it with the same part. But if the radiator failed once, what's stopping it from failing again? Until now, there haven't been many other options for 6.4L replacement radiators. You either pay a lot for an OEM-style replacement radiator or pay a lot more for a performance aluminum radiator. If your stock 6.4L is your daily driver or light-duty work truck, it doesn't make sense to drop in an expensive aluminum radiator that will never really benefit you. So, the OEM-style replacement does the job. At least it tries, until that flexible front end breaks the radiator again, and you end up sinking thousands into the cooling system anyway.
After jumping into the diesel truck market a few years ago, Mishimoto designed and released an aluminum radiator engineered specifically for the Ford 6.4L. We identified a serious concern with stock radiator failure. Numerous enthusiasts on a variety of online boards were experiencing extremely frequent failures, with some folks replacing as many as 3 radiators within the first 60,000 miles. In fact, this issue in combination with others that plague the 6.4L were enough to make a few truck owners revert to the previous 6.0L or upgrade to the newer 6.7L, swearing off the 6.4L after repeated issues with their trucks.
Being experts within the automotive & diesel cooling world, we immediately saw an opportunity to provide a solution for this problem. After identifying the radiator as a common failure point on the Ford 6.4L Powerstroke, Mishimoto was quick to develop a full aluminum cooling solution for the plastic end-tank factory radiator. We are well aware of the widespread issues with stock radiator leaking at the end tanks, core, and hoses. Ford has attempted to remedy this issue throughout several years, releasing numerous TSB's for a variety of cooling components.
