Our kit replaces the weak, unattractive, and restrictive stock intercooler pipe with a free-flowing and durable cast-aluminum pipe. By smoothing out the bumps, dips, and curves of the stock pipe, we were able to improve flow by 36% for dyno-proven gains of up to 8 lb-ft of torque and 5 horsepower.
But power isn't the only improvement we've made. This pipe is constructed from 100% cast aluminum for greater strength against heat and high boost pressure. The included silicone couplers with DuraCore™ technology are constructed from five layers of silicone and heat-resistant fibers for greater durability and strength. The DuraCore™ inner lining is also more resistant to fuel and oil for greater longevity. To add another layer of durability, this intercooler pipe is powder coated in our wrinkle black finish for maximum resistance to corrosion and the elements.
This cast aluminum intercooler pipe also allows for even more customizability and future upgrades. An area of thicker casting at the end of the pipe allows you to drill and tap for anything from boost sensors, to nitrous or methanol injection. We've also included a removable bypass valve adapter that allows you to use the stock bypass valve or aftermarket blow-off valves.

As the Jeep pulled onto the Dynojet, our anticipation grew. Would the increased flow equate to more power, or would our pipe fall flat? We removed the stock intercooler pipe from the JL and installed our free-flowing cast-aluminum replacement. We strapped down the Jeep and fired it up.
At Mishimoto, we pride ourselves on considering the details. The basis of our development process is of course performance, but what really makes our products work for our customers are the details. Even in something as simple as our 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL intercooler pipe, the details matter.
If you look back over the development of our JL intercooler pipe, you'll find a common theme: flow. We spent months focusing on flow and performance. We redesigned the intercooler pipe, 3D printed prototypes, and cast samples to test its performance. The result of that focus and work is a smoother and better flowing intercooler pipe. Job done, right? Not quite. We accomplished the big picture goal, but what about the details?
Over the course of R&D we heard a lot of feedback
As the weather grows colder here on the east coast, there's a collective smile forming on the faces of select drivers everywhere. Those of us whose engines come equipped with their own mini hurricane know this time of year as "boost season." The colder weather means denser air, and denser air means the turbos under our hoods force more air into the engine. More air means more fuel, and more fuel means more power. It might just be a placebo effect from driving with the windows down, the chill of the wind blowing in your face, and hearing the whoosh of the turbo, but fall to the driver of a turbocharged vehicle feels like Mother Nature loaned us a small piece of her power for the next few months.
The colder weather here in Delaware is also spurring us to finish our 2018+ Jeep Wrangler
Our last 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL 2.0T intercooler pipe post ended with our engineer, Jason, 3D scanning the stock JL intercooler pipe and engine bay. Over the next several weeks, those 3D scans would evolve into a digital drawing of our high-flow intercooler pipe, then make their way into the physical world in the form of a 3D printed prototype.
The prototyping phase is one of the most important steps in creating a new part. It gives us a true-to-life look at how our parts will fit and it's our first chance to recognize potential issues. It's also one of the most exciting parts of the process as it's where we get to watch our hard work come to life. With each pass of the 3D printer our ideas become increasingly real.
No matter how powerful Mother Nature becomes, humans try to control, contain, or harness her. We hold back rivers with dams, suppress ocean waves with dunes, and leash the wind to power our sails and our cities. But even when we think we can control her power, we're often left in awe of Mother Nature's ability to break that control. Nature's strength and freedom are qualities we often admire and try to imitate. We mimic them in our art, our hobbies, and even the cars and trucks we drive.
At Mishimoto, we're not immune to the awe of Mother Nature. That's why we've been working to rival her power with the Jeep JL 2.0T Hurricane engine and our performance intercooler pipe.

The automotive industry is a perfect example of this. Automotive nomenclature, especially, has deep roots in nature.
